As we enter year 6 of our "new Y", we have seen amazing growth and our member satisfaction levels are high. We consistently place in the top 5% of YMCA's in Canada in terms of member satisfaction and cleanliness. A three year plan is underway to upgrade our wellness centre, and add new and fun equipment to all areas of the Y. We are also "greening" our facility. With these changes, we have reduced our energy consumption by over 25%.

Moving Forward...

We are now entering a new phase in the life of the YMCA of Greater Moncton. We are reinvesting in the facility in order to make your YMCA experience even better. A three year plan is underway to upgrade our wellness centre, and add new and fun equipment to all areas of the Y. Chris Robicheau and his staff team have put together a list of equipment that will be rotated out and new equipment to replace it. You may have noticed the new treadmills, recumbent bicycles and spinners that were installed mid August. Some of this equipment takes advantage of new technology and allows members to surf the net as they exercise, or gives you an opportunity to view over 50 TV channels. We will be adding more equipment in 2011 as well as in 2012. The aquatic centre has added more toys and floats to their inventory, and the youth and preschool department has a new bouncy castle that the kids can enjoy.

Part of any refurbishment plan includes some facility work. The wellness centre has been repainted, new carpeting has replaced the original and a new techno gym computer kiosk has replaced the old model.

We are also "greening" our facility. We have started the process of installing LED and energy efficient lights to replace the older bulbs. Retro fits have happened in the gymnasium, wellness centre, pool and parking lot. With these changes, we have reduced our energy consumption by over 25%. We are now investigating solar panels in order to help preheat our water prior to it entering our boilers. Thanks to Len McCormick and his team for finding new ways to make the Y greener!

On a programming front, the aquatics department has instituted a new registration process. You can now register for a specific day and time, and your child will progress through the YMCA levels without having to change times. The fitness department is developing new programs to complement our current offer. Emphasis is being placed on our Youth programming and finding new and fun ways to get kids into better shape.

Our staff team is constantly looking for ways to improve your YMCA experience, if you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to contact any one of us, or me personally at 853-8572 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
