Low Impact Fitness

YMCA Group Fitness classes give you a chance to meet people, improve you fitness level, and have fun! Members are encouraged to work at their own pace. Ask your fitness instructor for assistance or exercise information at any time. Most of our classes include cardiovascular, muscular strength/endurance, and stretching components. YMCA fitness volunteers and staff are trained and certified as YMCA Fitness instructors.

Summer 2010 - Low Impact Fitness Programs

Ai Chi
This is Tai Chi, aquatic style. Slow, controlled movements, using the water as resistance to gently condition and strengthen and rejuvenate your soul.

Arthritis Aquability
This program is for adults with arthritis or fibromyalgia. The purpose of this specialized program is to help participants manage stiffness and pain along with improving mobility and ability to participate in everyday activities.

Chair Yoga
An adapted form of Hatha Yoga, postures are performed sitting in a chair or standing behind a chair to facilitate better balance. An excellent option for older adults and individuals with limited mobility.

Lebed Method
The Lebed Method "Focus on Healing" is a therapeutic exercise program for women who have had any kind of breast surgery, node dissection, radiation, chemotherapy, or who suffer from chronic fatigue. Through the use of specifically designed movements, the program enhances physical and emotional well-being.

Open Gym Walking (NEW!)
Here's an opportunity for you to walk without ice and snow. The gym will be reserved for you on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00 - 8:45am. Please note this is unsupervised.

Prime Time
Join us in the studio for a half hour of low impact aerobics. Enjoy the music of your generation and the company of your friends as you improve your cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, and flexibility.
