Hi name is Kathy Russell and I have two children. Before they were born I weighed 130 lbs. I was sure the weight would come right off but unfortunately, I waited too long and allowed my weight to creep up to 350 pounds.

After conversations with doctors about back and shoulder pain, emotional stress, and depression I decided it was time to make a change. I started with changing my eating habits and walking a few minutes at a time. I started skipping rope, sit-ups, squats and jumping jacks when no one was around.

I then came across the YMCA. The Y environment is unlike any other where anyone can comfortably participate no matter what their size, shape, or experience is. My family and I made a commitment to eat healthy, exercise at least 3 days a week, and "live" life again.

I lost over 190 pounds in total. Losing the weight has been a complete lifestyle change. I realized that no one will do it for me. Determination and commitment is a powerful tool. If I can do it, so can you!
